Yoga & Movement Classes

Hi, I’m Mary
I’m a Certified Professional Recovery Coach (IAPRC), Yoga & Meditation Teacher, International Retreat Leader and the Founder of Sun & Moon Sober Living.
I’ve been sober since April 27, 2013, and while the past 9 years of sobriety have undoubtedly been the best years of my life, my road to recovery was anything but linear.
Prior to getting sober, I was the epitome of a high-functioning alcoholic and addict. From an outside perspective, I had just been promoted at one of the top advertising agencies in Chicago and was surrounded by friends and a wonderful family. Yet my inner experience told an entirely different story. I was hiding my alcohol and drug use, riddled with anxiety and overwhelming shame, and felt like I was constantly on the edge of disaster.
Since getting sober, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the globe leading Yoga & Meditation retreats which have been featured by Yoga Journal, Compare Retreats, and more, and training with world-renowned teachers.
My aim with creating this course is to help free you from the suffering I endured, and give you the tools that have allowed me to thrive with a holistic sober lifestyle. My approach is rooted in the understanding that in order to truly break an addiction, we need to get to the root of what drives our behavior in the first place, and build a set of skills and practices that will sustain us for the longterm.
What inspires me to share this work…
Every time I receive a message like this or connect with members of our community, I’m reminded of the importance of sharing the tools and resources that have allowed me to live a life of freedom, fulfillment and joy.
The tools and support shared in this program come from a place of deep understanding, humility and compassion. I know the struggle, and am on this journey alongside you.
It’s an honor and a privilege to share the tools that have had such profound transformation on my life. In the famous words of Ram Das, “we are all just walking each other home”.

Success Stories
"Mary is such a wealth of information and insight and has been such a huge motivator and supporter of me on my sober journey. The meetings she facilitated have all filled me up and left me feeling empowered and confident in my ability to live and thrive in sobriety."
The “difference” is that with Mary you get the chance to be supported by a person who’s entire being is focused towards living a sober life and understanding why you used and how it affected your body your nervous system and more. She understands the whole process of using, relapsing and getting sober so well that you accept your state and become willing to make a change and she is there to walk you through it.
I feel Mary made it her purpose to understand to the last “drop” why you are an alcoholic and how you can stop and live a sober, mindful life. The group is not only about sharing and listening to others but it also has Mary‘s feedback, which truly helps you understand yourself deeper.
This was a safe and supportive place to begin exploring sobriety and how to refocus life priorities. Thank you.
